music theory index composition search
The composition index returns articles that treat individual works in detail, not merely in passing. It is not designed to return every mention of a specific work in the literature. Every effort has been made to make this database comprehensive, but please be aware that it is early in its evolution and some articles treating specific compositions may have been missed. If you are aware of an omission, please e-mail us and we will make the addition in the next update.
You do not have to type in a composer's last name, but it will narrow your search when using generic titles like "Symphony."
Use the least amount of information possible in the composition box. For example, use "String Quartet" instead of "String Quartet in C sharp Minor, Op. 131." The wildcard mechanism in the query accommodates only "less than or equal to" the total information listed in each record.
